This projects is an attempt to systematically analyze the occurrence of two evil principles (Ahreman and Druz) with different names and meanings in a Middle Persian Text Dādestān ī dēnīg

While Some Pahlavi texts focus more on Ahreman (or "Gannāg-Mēnōy") as the ultimate evil principle, Drūz also plays an active role in other Middle Persian works like Dādestān ī Dēnīg. It seems that Drūz is really the main representation of Evil/Chaos for Manuščihr. both comparative and digital humanities methods will be combined to examine, on the one hand, how the two concepts relate to each other and what are some main differences in Dādestān ī dēnīg and Vizīdagīhā ī Zādspram; on the other hand, it seeks to find out, however partially, what the two principle actually meant to the Mazdyasnian high priests during the 9th century Iran.
